I was 18 y.o. when my late Sister Janette Lanaja told me that we have Subanen blood. I wonder then why my father kept it a secret.. For fifteen years now this tiny voices of my native ancestry keep calling me.. Getting into the open is freedom.. Involving to my origin is a total vindication.. Embracing the past is getting to know a world, world that has too many meaning to us.. The last pages of my life is dedicated to these people, people of beautiful culture, people that i should know really exist, people that should be respected, people of my ancestors, people where I belong!!
I am Louie Pangilinan Lanaja, recently living in Titay, Zamboanga Sibugay, my mother came from a native Kapampangen tribe.. My father's maternal line descended from Subanen tribe of Misamis Occidental.. Athough of not pure blooded, I know my soul is..

Two days ago, I have a long conversation with my father.. His maternal grandfather has a foreign blood and Subanen.. He was told by his mother that the mother of his grandfather was a Subanen who was brought abroad and died there.. All I thought we also descended from the Spanish race but it turned out, those blue and green eyes of my grandparents were actually inherited from our British race.

Sir Gerry Imbing told me that the Subanen of Malindang were intermarried by British when the tribe help them win the war against Spain and Moros.
